Meet Kate

Sole owner & proprietor of Katydid Horticultural Wellness, LLC., Kate Irvine is a Therapeutic Horticulture Practitioner (THP), licensed through the American Horticultural Therapy Association (AHTA). She received her Certificate in Horticultural Therapy and Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from Temple University, and is a Certified Nursery and Landscape Professional via the New Jersey Nursery & Landscape Association (NJNLA).

Prior to her life in horticulture, Kate received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Moore College of Art & Design in 2013, of which a decade-long career in tattooing ensued. Focusing primarily on botanical imagery allowed her passions to shift to the plant material she was recreating, and she began to find herself drawn to the flora of Bucks County, Mid-Atlantic natives, and medicinal herbs. Her subsequent exploration of these topics ultimately resulted in a return to school for her second Bachelor’s in Horticulture. She now works full time as the Creative Director for Pleasant Run Nursery in Allentown, NJ, and spends her off time practicing therapeutic horticulture.

When she’s not working, you can find Kate out in her garden, on a hike, exploring her local woods with her Boxer-Shihtzu-mix, Gigi, or cuddled up with her cats, a book, and a cup of tea in her eclectic, antiques-filled home.
